Care and Support Package worth S$1.6b to help households

AN S$1.6 billion Care and Support Package was unveiled to help Singaporeans with their household expenses in the light of the economic slowdown and uncertainties of the Covid-19 outbreak, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat in his Budget speech on Tuesday.

This includes a one-off cash payout of up to S$300 for all Singaporeans above 21 years of age. The payout is tiered to personal income levels. Individuals with assessable income of up to S$28,000 for the year of assessment (YA) 2019 will get S$300. Singaporeans with assessable income between $28,001 and S$100,000 will get S$200 while those who exceed S$100,000 or who own more than one property will get S$100.
