CHINA'S economy stabilised in the first quarter of the year on the back of strong industrial output as the multi-million dollar stimulus gains traction.

The economy grew 6.4 per cent in the first three months of the year, after slowing significantly since last summer and the implementation in July of tariffs by the United States on billions of dollars worth of imports.
