CPFIS-included funds yield positive returns in Q4 2017
UNIT trusts and investment-linked insurance products (ILPs) under the Central Provident Fund Investment Scheme (CPFIS) yielded positive returns, on average, in the fourth quarter of 2017.
The overall performance of CPFIS-included funds increased 3.61 per cent, a positive development for investors, said Thomson Reuters Lipper, which complied the data.
Specifically, it said, CPFIS-included unit trusts increased 3.94 per cent, while CPFIS-included ILPs rose 3.42 per cent.
For all CPFIS-included funds, equities and mixed asset posted positive returns of 4.68 per cent and 3 per cent, while bonds and money market funds grew 0.29 per cent and 0.17 per cent.
For the full year to December 2017, the overall performance of CPFIS-included funds posted a positive return of 15.82 per cent on average. CPFIS-included unit trusts rallied 16.54 per cent, while CPFIS-included ILPs climbed 15.4 per cent.
