CITING illegality and the lack of procedural fairness, a Malaysian High Court has revoked the Home Ministry's three-month permit suspension on two publications of the Edge Media Group, which had been at the forefront of reporting on scandal-ridden state-owned 1MDB.

In a judicial review, Judge Asmabi Mohamad on Monday ruled that Home Minister Zahid Hamidi had acted beyond the powers granted under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses Publication Act - the provision that grants the minister power to prohibit a publication by gazette, but observed no such gazette had been made against the Edge Weekly and the Edge Financial Daily.
