[BRUSSELS] The eurozone economy expanded by 0.3 per cent in the fourth quarter and 0.9 for all of 2014, official EU data showed Friday, slightly better than expected but too weak to signal a much-needed turnaround.

The official Eurostat agency's first estimate for 2014 growth in the 18-nation eurozone was slightly higher than a forecast of 0.8 per cent made by the European Commission earlier this month, driven by an unexpectedly strong expansion in Germany.
