AS financial markets await the outcome of Thursday's meeting of the European Central Bank (ECB) governing council, the Washington-based Institute of International Finance (IIF) has warned of the threat of market dislocations caused by divergent central bank monetary policies.
"Against the backdrop of deepening monetary policy divergence between the (US) Federal Reserve and other major central banks, there has been a growing incidence of spikes in volatility, and signs of dislocations in financing markets," the IIF said in a report on Wednesday.
