Financial market risks rising, spreading, says IMF deputy MD

THE deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned of the growing risks of severe financial market disruption and of a "disorderly rebalancing" of investment portfolios as monetary policy normalises in the US and elsewhere.

In a speech to the Bank of Korea International Conference in Seoul on Monday, Mitsuhiro Furusawa gave an unusually frank assessment of the risks facing financial markets and of the limitations of official policy in dealing with them.
