IMF appoints Singaporean Shirin Hamid as chief information officer

THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appointed Singaporean Shirin Hamid as chief information officer and director of the information technology department.

Hamid will assume her role on Jan 4, 2022, succeeding Edward Anderson. Her previous stints include roles at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Keppel Group.

"Shirin will be joining the Fund at this critical time when it is seeking to modernise the digital workplace, along with other capital improvements," said Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of IMF.

At the ADB and UNDP, Hamid has led IT initiatives that have fostered innovation and collaboration across the organisations. At the ADB, her department has also scored several recognitions, including the CIO 100 and IDC awards.

"Her diverse experience, strategic vision and considerable talent for leading large, culturally diverse teams are assets that will help the Fund achieve its modernisation goals," said Georgieva.
