IP Mediation Promotion Scheme to be launched
BUSINESSES and entrepreneurs will soon be able to access intellectual property (IP) mediation services through the new IP Mediation Promotion Scheme introduced by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
Effective April 1, 2016, the IP Mediation Promotion Scheme funds parties who opt for mediation in IP disputes up to S$5,500 per mediation case.
IPOS targets some 30 IP disputes to benefit from this scheme over the next three years.
Five IP legal experts have been appointed as IP adjudicators. They are Cheng Pei Feng, assistant registrar at the Supreme Court; David Llewelyn, deputy dean and professor of law (practice) at the School of Law at the Singapore Management University; Elizabeth Ng Siew Kuan, deputy chairwoman and director (IP) at Centre for Law and Business at the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore; Lee Li Choon, district judge at the Family Justice Courts; and Lorraine Tay, joint managing partner at Bird & Bird ATMD LLP.
