Japan's February exports rise 19.1% yoy: MOF

[TOKYO] Japan's exports rose 19.1 per cent in February from a year earlier, Ministry of Finance (MOF) data showed on Wednesday.

The rise was roughly in line with the 21.0 per cent increase expected by economists in a Reuters poll, and follows growth of 9.6 per cent in January.

February imports gained 34.0 per cent year-on-year, versus the median estimate for a 28.0 per cent increase.

The trade balance came to a deficit of 668.3 billion yen (S$7.71 billion), versus a median estimate for a 112.6 billion yen deficit. REUTERS
