Jebsen & Jessen chairman Heinrich Jessen named Businessman of the Year at Singapore Business Awards
FOR his role in transforming Jebsen & Jessen (Southeast Asia) into a regional powerhouse, chairman Heinrich Jessen has been named Businessman of the Year at the Singapore Business Awards (SBA).
Over the years, Jebsen & Jessen has grown from a foreign family trading business into a Singapore-based, pan-Asian industrial and engineering enterprise, which employs more than 4,000 people in over 50 subsidiaries.
The Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year award went to Singapore Airlines (SIA) chief, Goh Choon Phong, for implementing a slew of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the long-term position of the SIA group and building new engines of growth amid unrelenting competition.
Deputy chairman of Sotheby's Asia, Quek Chin Yeow, walked away with the Outstanding Overseas Executive of the Year Award for his role as a leader in the Fine Art auction world and for enabling Sotheby's growth in Asia.
Finally, Straco Corporation bagged The Enterprise Award for its success in building major tourist attractions both overseas and at home.
Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence, was the guest-of-honour at the SBA 2017 presentation dinner held at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore on Tuesday.
Launched in 1985, the SBA is jointly organised by The Business Times and DHL Express.
