JTC launches groundbreaking industrial space at Tuas
INDUSTRIAL space provider JTC Corporation (JTC) launched another innovative space on Wednesday. The site, named JTC Space @ Tuas, will accommodate firms in the oil and gas, precision engineering, and general manufacturing industries. At 6.4 hectares and 10 storeys, it will be JTC's first integrated industrial development.
It will also be the first cluster hub by JTC to include a workers' dormitory which will house foreign employees working for tenant companies at the site. The dormitory includes 1,300 beds, various sports and recreational facilities such as a gym and cricket pitching area, as well as a sick bay and multi-purpose room.
JTC announced that the new industrial space aims to integrate the manufacturing value-added chain by including various facilities which will address the needs of tenant firms during their various production processes. These include a heavy vehicle park, as well as a variety of factory units with different features. The space will also encompass an amenity centre which will include a supermarket, eateries, retail shops and a clinic.
The heavy vehicle park in JTC Space @ Tuas will cater to companies in the development and broader Tuas industrial area. Located near the upcoming Gul Circle MRT, it will also reduce time spent on commuting. JTC expressed its hopes for the industrial space to increase work productivity by providing a conducive environment for workers. The co-location of supporting facilities is also projected to reduce roadside congestion and illegal parking by heavy vehicles.
Two tenants are currently slated to move into JTC Space @ Tuas. They are Rohag Singapore Pte Ltd, a company that provides machining and fabrication works for the oilfield industry, as well as NuStar Technologies Pte Ltd, a designer, manufacturer and installer of subsea equipment. The innovative space will be completed in the third quarter of 2017.
