King Bhumibol dies, aged 88

Thai government declares a year of mourning for the country's beloved and world's longest-reigning monarch

    THAILAND'S King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest reigning monarch, has died. He was 88.

    The king died at 3:52 pm on Thursday at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital, having been ill and treated there since 2014, a palace statement said. The government has declared a year of mourning and all entertainment functions "toned down" for 30 days.
