NHB not aware of differences in view when it signed the deed of gift: Lawrence Wong

THE National Heritage Board (NHB) did not realise that there were differences in view among the estate's beneficiaries when it signed the deed of gift, said National Development Minister Lawrence Wong in Parliament.

NHB had to either sign the deed on the stipulated terms put forth by the estate's executors, Lee Wei Ling and Lee Hsien Yang, or do without the artefacts, he said.

It finally signed the deed as some items required conservation, he added. In addition, the NHB felt it would be in the public interest to put the artefacts on display.
