Singapore Parliament to sit on Thursday to pay tribute to late Lee Kuan Yew

Parliament will sit for a special sitting on March 26, 2015 at 4pm to pay tribute to Singapore's former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the government announced on Monday.

"As notified by the Leader of the House to the Speaker, the business for the sitting will be Tribute to the Founding Prime Minister of Singapore, the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew," the Clerk of Parliament said.

There will be live coverage of the sitting on 938LIVE; Channel News Asia; on Parliament's website and on www.rememberingLeeKuanYew.sg.

Mr Lee, a co-founder of the People's Action Party, died early Monday morning, at the age of 91.

A period of National Mourning from Monday, March 23, to Sunday, March 29, has been declared by the government. As a mark of respect, the State flags on all government buildings will be flown at half-mast from Monday till Sunday, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
