THE "local qualifying salary" will go up by S$100 to S$1,300 in July as the government further tightens its foreign worker policy to give a stronger push to economic restructuring and make Singapore more manpower-lean, especially in its services sector.
The local qualifying salary is the minimum pay given to a local worker in counting towards a company's quota for hiring foreigners on work permits and S Passes.
