Malaysia's GST to start as scheduled next April 1, reiterates PM Najib

MALAYSIA will stick to the April 1 deadline to implement a 6 per cent goods & services tax (GST) next year, Prime Minister Najib Razak reiterated on Tuesday.
Amid calls to delay the new consumption tax so that consumers are more receptive and businesses more prepared, Mr Najib stressed: "There is no turning back." Earlier, he had officiated at an international accountants' conference in Kuala Lumpur.
