Maritime and Port Authority names new chairman
THE Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said on Monday its deputy chairman, Niam Chiang Meng, will be appointed chairman of MPA with effect from Dec 16, 2016.
Mr Niam will take over from Lucien Wong, who will relinquish his post as MPA chairman on Dec 15 as he assumes office as Deputy Attorney-General of Singapore from Dec 19 before taking over as Attorney-General.
Mr Niam has been deputy chairman of MPA since July 2016. He retired from the administrative service on Aug 1, 2016, after 33 years of service in the public sector.
Before his retirement as Permanent Secretary to the National Population and Talent Division and National Climate Change Secretariat, Mr Niam was chief executive of the Housing & Development Board, and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Law.
