MTI announces board changes at EMA, JTC, IE Singapore, SDC

THE Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) on Friday announced board appointment changes at four statutory boards:

Energy Market Authority (EMA)

Ng How Yue, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Law, will assume the post of EMA chairman with effect from May 1, 2016. He will take over from Loh Khum Yean, who will be appointed as permanent secretary (Trade and Industry) on the same day.

MTI has also appointed three new members to the EMA board. They are Zia Zaman, founder and chief executive officer of LumenLab, and senior vice-president and chief innovation officer at MetLife Asia; Kon Yin Tong, managing partner at Foo Kon Tan LLP; and Quah Ley Hoon, chief editor (English current affairs, news division) at MediaCorp.

Two board members were earlier re-appointed on April 1, 2016. They are Quek See Tiat, deputy president at the Council for Estate Agencies; and Pek Hak Bin, group CEO at Cronus Energy Pte Ltd.

The following board members have stepped down upon the completion of their terms on March 31, 2016: Tang Tuck Weng, senior director at the National Climate Change Secretariat; and Allen Lew, CEO (consumer Australia), and CEO (Optus), Australia, at Singapore Telecommunications Limited.

JTC Corporation (JTC)

MTI has re-appointed Png Cheong Boon as the CEO and board member of JTC with effect from May 1, 2016. Yeoh Oon Jin, executive chairman at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, was re-appointed as a board member on April 1, 2016.

Chen Soon Bin, former managing director at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Pte Ltd, has stepped down from JTC's Board on April 1, 2016.

IE SINGAPORE

Four new members were appointed to the IE Singapore board on April 1, 2016. They are Lee Ark Boon, CEO of IE Singapore; Ong Peng Tsin, managing director of Monk's Hill Ventures; Viswanathan Shankar, CEO of Gateway Partners; and Lau Peet Meng, deputy commissioner (operations) and concurrent director (operations) at the Singapore Police Force, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC)

The following members on the SDC board were re-appointed on April 1, 2016: Heng Chen Seng, co-head of Markets Group, head of consumer and real estate, and head of South East Asia at Temasek International Pte Ltd; Koh-Lim Wen Gin, board member of National Parks Board and independent director at Keppel Land Ltd; Lim Joo Boon, chairman of Singapore Turf Club; and Ronny Tan Chong Tee, chairman of Assisi Hospice.
