IE Singapore, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and five private corporations on Tuesday launched a programme to train university students for the energy, commodities, and metals industries.
About 100 NTU students will be admitted under the International Trading Programme (ITP) every year, starting from this academic year.
Five industry partners - Borouge Pte Ltd, Bright Ruby Resources Pte Ltd, Chevron, Petrobras, and Wilmar Trading - will offer feedback on the syllabus design, manpower requirements, sector developments as well as internships and outreach events.
"The ITP aims to develop a pipeline of talent for the trading sector, particularly the energy and chemicals, agri-commodities, as well as metals and mining industries," IE Singapore said in a statement.
