THE National University of Singapore (NUS) has appointed three new members to its board of trustees, for terms beginning on April 1.

They are Singapore Airlines chief executive officer Goh Choon Phong; Deloitte Asia Pacific chief executive officer Chaly Mah Chee Kheong; and WongPartnership joint managing partner Ng Wai King.

They will take over from three members who are stepping down today - Professor Saw Swee Hock, professorial fellow of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies; Paul Ma, chairman of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management; and Davinder Singh, senior counsel and chief executive officer of Drew & Napier LLC.

The NUS Board of Trustees comprises 24 members appointed by the minister for education, and is chaired by Wong Ngit Liong, chairman and chief executive officer of Venture Corporation. Business leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the public service and private sectors make up the rest of the board.

Said Mr Wong: "We welcome Choon Phong, Chaly and Wai King to our board. They are prominent leaders in their respective fields and bring with them diverse perspectives and wealth of knowledge that will help to raise the global repute and standing of NUS and also to further advance its position as a leading global university centred in Asia."
