MORE than 100 businesses in Singapore could offer MyInfo - a service that allows customers to complete transactions online more quickly - as early as 2018.

The MyInfo Developer & Partner Portal, which provides the necessary resources for any locally-based business to integrate their digital services with MyInfo, was unveiled on Friday by the Government Technology Agency (GovTech).

GovTech said that it has received "strong interest" from at least 100 businesses in various sectors including telecommunications, utilities, education and finance to tap MyInfo for faster transactions with their customers.

MyInfo is a convenience tool that allows SingPass users to skip filling in their personal data repeatedly for every online transaction, thus saving them time and the need to produce verification documents such as NRIC scans.

It was first rolled out in May 2016 across government services only, such as the balloting of HDB Build-To-Order (BTO) flats.

It was then extended to the banking sector in May this year, with four banks - DBS, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB - piloting the use of MyInfo for digital services such as the opening of new bank accounts.

Citibank, HSBC, MayBank Group and Amex are targeting to have MyInfo onboard by Q1 2018, GovTech said.
