POLITICAL diversity is crucial to conducting good politics, which leads to the building of a resilient system that can withstand "shocks and turbulence", said Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang on Thursday.
"The outcome of good politics is the fostering of a political system that is able to withstand shocks and turbulence, including the unexpected collapse or slow corruption of the ruling party, to ensure the continuity of the nation as a united people," he said in Parliament, in agreement with President Tony Tan Keng Yam, who said at the opening of Parliament two weeks ago that Singapore needs to get its politics right.
