THE deputy secretary for the Ministry of Law, Poon Hong Yuen, has been appointed as the chief executive of Spring Singapore from Nov 1.

As the deputy secretary - a role he has held since March last year - Mr Poon has led inter-agency engagement efforts for family justice and the community disputes resolution tribunals. He also helped lay the foundation for the Singapore International Mediation Centre and Singapore International Mediation Institute, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a release on Friday.

Before this, Mr Poon was the CEO of the National Parks Board (NParks) from August 2010 to February 2014. Under his leadership, NParks set into motion major initiatives such as "Destination Parks" and "Round Island Route".

Mr Poon graduated with a Bachelor in Electronic Engineering (First Class Honours) from the UK's Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in 1993.
