Proposed changes to election deposit formula and payment methods

THOSE who intend to contest the next general election (GE) will have to fork out slightly less for their election deposit compared to the last polls in 2015, and they can choose to make the payment via electronic fund transfer instead of cash.
These were among proposed amendments to the Parliamentary Elections Act that were tabled on Monday in parliament by Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing.
