Putin says he senses Trump genuinely wants to repair US-Russia ties
[SOCHI] Russian President Vladimir Putin told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday that he sensed that US President Donald Trump genuinely wanted to repair battered relations between Russia and the United States.
Mr Putin, speaking ahead of talks with Mr Pompeo, also said that Russia had never interfered in US elections and that he and Mr Pompeo had something to talk about when it came to stability on global energy markets.
Mr Pompeo had earlier told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Washington would brook no interference by Moscow in the 2020 US presidential election, saying such a move would seriously harm already poor relations.
