Roy Ngerng breaks down in tears during questioning by Senior Council Davinder Singh
[SINGAPORE] Blogger Roy Ngerng, who has been found to have defamed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, broke down in tears in court on Friday morning after he was accused by PM Lee's lawyers of using foreign organisations to apply pressure on the courts not to award high damages to the Prime Minister.
Mr Ngerng submitted to the court, letters from the International Commission of Jurists and Centre for International Law, Philippines to imply that if "the court were to award high damages, it would run afoul of international human rights laws ... and tantamount to judicial arrest", Senior Counsel Davinder Singh said during his cross-examination of Mr Ngerng in the morning.
