SIA to spend US$13.8b on new Boeing aircraft
It agrees to place firm orders with US manufacturer for 39 planes, plus options, due for delivery from FY2020

SINGAPORE'S flagship carrier intends to spend US$13.8 billion (S$19.5 billion) on 39 Boeing aircraft, to drive additional growth and fleet modernisation through the next decade, it said in an announcement yesterday.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) said it has agreed to place firm orders with the US airframe manufacturer for 20 777-9 aircraft and 19 787-10 aircraft.
The proposed order is valued at US$13.8 billion, based on published list prices, it said.
