THE Early Turnover Scheme - an initiative to encourage the early replacement of older and more pollutive commercial diesel vehicles - will be enhanced and extended, said Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat on Monday.
He announced that people have switched 27,000 vehicles to cleaner models since the scheme was launched in 2013.
The scheme, due to expire on July 31 this year, will be extended until July 31, 2019 for those who turn over their Euro II and III vehicles for Euro VI vehicles. Separately, the Certificate of Entitlement bonus period for Light Goods Vehicles will be further enhanced.
Mr Heng said that Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan and Environment and Water Resources Minister Masagos Zulkifli will announce more details at the upcoming Committee of Supply debates.
