Analysts expect provisions to be made in Budget for social spending

Huge surpluses allow bigger expenditures to fight Covid-19 and boost safety nets for the poor and vulnerable

Economists and researchers say that higher social expenses will be driven by Singapore's ageing population, which is likely to raise the number of Singaporeans aged 65 and above to one in four in 2030.
