Singapore citizens aged 12-39 and recovered Covid-19 patients can book vaccination from June 11

SINGAPORE citizens aged 12 to 39 will be able to register for vaccination come June 11. This includes individuals who had earlier contracted Covid-19 and have since recovered.

Registrants will be progressively invited to book their vaccination appointments via an SMS to be sent after registration. An invitation can be expected within a few days, but may take up to two weeks for some.

Children who turn 12 this year must have crossed their birthday before they are eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

At a multi-ministry task force press conference on Thursday afternoon, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said there is evidence indicating that a single dose would boost protection for recovered Covid-19 patients.

As recovered individuals are likely to have a strong immune response within the first six months after their infection, those infected more than six months ago will be prioritised for the single-dose vaccination at this point.

As of 9 June, more than 4.4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered. Some 2.5 million individuals have received at least one dose, of whom around 1.9 million have received completed the full vaccination regimen.

About 74 per cent of those eligible for the vaccine and aged 45 and above have either been vaccinated or have booked appointments. The take-up rate for those aged 40 to 44 is 65 per cent.

Finance Minister Lawrence Wong added that 50 per cent of the population is expected to be fully vaccinated by August and 75 per cent or more to be fully vaccinated by October this year.
