[SINGAPORE] For the first time, the Elections Department (ELD) is announcing sample counts for each constituency - giving the public an early indication of the possible final results. Apart from areas in close contests, voters will get a rough idea of the results from around 10pm.
The Business Times will be updating the latest sample count results here, as they are released by the ELD. For more of BT's election coverage, including maps, candidate info and 2011's results, head here.
The ELD has done sample counts in previous general elections. The numbers are said to be fairly indicative of the possible outcome for a constituency; sample counts typically have a confidence level of 95 per cent, plus or minus four percentage points.
