[SINGAPORE] The Workers' Party (WP) on Friday introduced its third batch of potential candidates, even as its chairman, Sylvia Lim, pledged to work hard to hold WP's seats through the group representation constituency at Aljunied.

"The PAP is always a formidable opponent. They are the ruling party with a huge party machinery and grassroots network. We will work hard to retain our seats," she told the media at the party's headquarters.

The People's Action Party (PAP) on Friday morning unveiled its team for Aljunied. It will be led by Yeo Guat Kwang, who has experience with four terms as a member of Parliament.

The new faces from WP are corporate lawyer He Ting Ru, 32; property agent with Propnex Ron Tan, 30; polytechnic lecturer L Somasundaram, 52; and businessman Adrian Sim, 43.

Ms He said she would raise issues about the cost of living in Singapore. She said there are also concerns about the "Singaporean core" being diluted.

Another candidate Mr Sim began working part-time at the age of 15 to help with the family's household expenses - his profile on the WP website showed - by selling Chinese newspapers, and kuehs. He lives in Hougang.
