Singapore manufacturers submit Budget wishlist to government
THE Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) has outlined four areas of focus to help local manufacturers become future-ready - collaboration, innovation, productivity, and talent.
In its written feedback and recommendations to the Ministry of Finance for Budget 2016, SMF said the government should incentivise multinational corporations and large local companies to outsource opportunities to local suppliers and vendors.
It also called for the extension of existing schemes, such as the Productivity & Innovation Credit scheme, Innovation & Capability Voucher, and the Wage Credit Scheme.
SMF added that it would like to see students gain longer and better exposure to manufacturing jobs, with enhanced internship opportunities.
