Singapore not immune to global competition and uncertainty: Lim Swee Say
[SINGAPORE] Singapore is not immune to growing uncertainty and keener competition in the global economy, said Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say on Wednesday morning.
Recognising that zero employment does not exist anywhere, including the city-state, Mr Lim, who was speaking at the first of five SIM University (UniSIM) convocation ceremonies at the SIM Headquarters, said: "The reality is that someday, some of you here could end up being unemployed or under-employed." However, he noted that graduates here enjoy better employment opportunities than most other countries, and urged individuals to stay employable as working adults. "Some of you will do better than others. It all depends on how you approach your work, your life and your world," he said.
