AS many as 3,000 colourful fireworks lit up the Marina Bay skyline for about 12 minutes on Thursday evening as Singapore celebrated her 53rd birthday in style.

About 25,000 people - including President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong - were at the Float @ Marina Bay for the National Day Parade, with over 3,000 performers of all ages and backgrounds coming together to put on a spectacular two-hour show.

Thousands of people thronged nearby areas such as the Esplanade, Gardens By The Bay, Merlion Park and Marina Bay Sands to soak in the festivities and enjoy the fireworks display.
