Singapore advised to be ready to review tax regime

Aim is to have a set-up that is broad-based, progressive and fair, and competitive and pro-growth as well

Mr Heng Swee Keat was speaking at a press conference held upon the release of the 109-page report by the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE), which urged the government to maintain a tax regime that is "broad-based, progressive and fair", while also remaining "competitive and pro-growth".


SINGAPORE should stand ready to review its tax regime so that the economy's growth down the road is sustainable, said Heng Swee Keat, chairman of a high-powered committee tasked with reviewing how the economy should be restructured.
