Six daily flights from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to kick off Singapore-India VTL

THERE will be a total of 6 flights a day from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore under the India Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 21).

The flights start from Nov 29 and applications for vaccinated travel passes (VTP) for short-term visitors and long-term passholders from India start on Nov 22, 6 pm Singapore time. 

CAAS’ latest agreement with the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India to resume scheduled commercial flights comes as the city-state looks to open its borders and reclaim its status as an aviation hub amid a pandemic that has kept its airports quiet for more than a year.

Airlines can also operate non-VTL flights between India and Singapore, CAAS said. Those travelling on non-VTL flights into the city-state will have to comply with prevailing public health requirements.

Applications for the VTP for short-term visitors and long-term pass holders for travel from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Finland, and Sweden to Singapore will open on Nov 22.

“(We) would like to assure travellers that there is no need to rush to apply for the VTP,” CAAS said.
