South Korea jobless rate unchanged at 3.5% in October
[SEOUL] South Korea's unemployment rate remained unchanged in October but the number of young people out of work eased slightly, government data showed Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 3.5 per cent for the second straight month, Statistics Korea said.
Unemployment among those aged 15-29 stood at 8.0 per cent, down 0.5 percentage points from a month earlier.
The number of employed people came to 25.95 million in October, up 406,000 from the same month last year.
"A drop in the number of jobs in the farming sector continued as job creation in the service, manufacturing and retail industries slowed down," Statistics Korea said.
