ST Electronics president named BCA's new chairman

ST Electronics president Lee Fook Sun will be appointed as the chairman of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) board, with effect from April 1.
Mr Lee, who is currently the deputy chairman of the board, will succeed Quek See Tiat who will be stepping down from the BCA board at the end of the current term.
Mr Quek has served on the BCA board for the past 15 years, and has been BCA's chairman since 2007.
A press statement said during his term, he provided guidance on the introduction of policies to promote the development of green buildings in Singapore.
He also oversaw major reviews to enhance the safety standards in the built environment, and guided BCA in the development of the Construction Productivity Roadmap to steer the built environment sector towards higher productivity through technology adoption, more integrated building processes and a higher-quality workforce.
Existing board member Norman Ip, chairman of WBL Corporation, will succeed Mr Lee as the deputy chairman.

In addition to Mr Lee and Mr Ip, six existing board members will be re-appointed and six new board members will join the board. All appointments are for a three-year term starting April.
With these appointment changes, the BCA board will have 14 members.
