Susan Lim loses appeal against legal assessor fees

Surgeon Susan Lim will have to pay some S$235,200 in fees to a legal assessor for work done in a disciplinary inquiry against her after the Court of Appeal on Wednesday upheld an earlier decision by the High Court.
The fees are those of Senior Counsel Vinodh Coomaraswamy and are a portion of a bigger bill that the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) had submitted against Dr Lim for expenses from two disciplinary hearings.
In 2012, Dr Lim was suspended from practice for three years and fined S$10,000 by the SMC for overcharging the Queen of Brunei's sister…
