Taiwan c.bank says difficult for economy to grow significantly this year
[TAIPEI] Taiwan's central bank said it will be difficult for the trade-reliant island to grow significantly this year due to "downside" risks to global economic growth.
The island's inflation outlook is mild and the central bank will maintain "appropriate" monetary policy aimed at stimulating growth and stabilizing prices and the financial system, according to a report, seen by Reuters on Tuesday, that the central bank prepared for parliament.
Governor Perng Fai-nan of the central bank is due to answer lawmakers' questions in a parliamentary session on Thursday.
The central bank's next quarterly meeting is March 24.
