Trump seeks to slash spending by government in Budget plan

THE White House will on Tuesday ask Republicans, who control the US Congress and the federal purse strings, to slash spending on healthcare and food-assistance programmes for the poor as it pushes ahead with its plans to cut taxes and trim the deficit.
