Two new coffee shops tap technology, automation for greater productivity
TWO new coffee shops have opened over the weekend which leverage on technology and other features to boost productivity amid a tight labour market.
The "Happy Hawkers" coffee shop was opened by Koufu in Tampines while the "FoodTastic" coffee shop was launched by Chang Cheng Group in Choa Chu Kang.
At Happy Hawkers, patrons can expect cashless payments and digital ordering via kiosks and mobile apps for greater convenience, while the coffee shop also uses a tray return robot to ensure a clean dining environment.
Meanwhile, FoodTastic has an automated floor cleaning robot as well as automated dish sorting and washing equipment to cut down on the need for manual labour.
The coffee shops are jointly facilitated by Spring Singapore and the Housing and Development Board, and are in line with the recommendations proposed under the Food Services Industry Transformation Map launched last year.
A tender for three more such coffee shops will be launched in the third quarter of this year.
