CHINA has said it would open its economy further by lowering import tariffs for vehicles and enforcing the intellectual property rights of foreign firms.

The pledge came in a speech by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Boao Forum in Hainan, even as China and the US teetered on the brink of a threatened trade war.
