Before consumer Internet firm Sea became one of South-east Asia's most well-known tech names, the company was a scrappy startup working out of a small shophouse office on Maxwell Road in Singapore. Founded by Forrest Li in 2009, Sea went public on the New York Stock Exchange in October 2017 and has since grown into a US$54.2 billion company.

Mr Li, who is chief executive and chairman of the group, helmed Sea as it evolved from a games publisher called Garena into a regional heavyweight with businesses in gaming, e-commerce and digital finance. He shared his entrepreneurial journey and what is in store for the company during the fourth Cutting Edge forum held virtually on July 30.

Cutting Edge is a series of four forums sponsored by GuocoLand in partnership with The Business Times and The Straits Times.
