ONLY three players in history, Jack Nicklaus (1965-66), Nick Faldo (1989-90), and Tiger Woods (2001-02) have won the US Masters - inaugurated in 1934 - in consecutive fashion.

World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will be eyeing to join this elite list at the 2021 edition of the Major at the famed Augusta National Golf Club course.

Johnson recently made his first trip to the club since winning the tournament last year with a record 20-under 268 total and is satisfied with the conditions. "The course is in immaculate condition. It looks like it's shaping up to be a normal Masters, and I'm really looking forward to that."

Johnson feels his game is in "pretty good shape" although he finished a way-down tied-48th in the recent Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

This season, he won the Saudi International in February, but failed to make an impact at the World Golf Championships.

Johnson's reign as the champion is one of the shortest in tournament history as the 2020 edition was postponed to November due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the 24-time PGA Tour winner is not too concerned about holding on to the coveted "Green Jacket".

"It wouldn't bother me if I only had it for a day", Johnson recently said. "I've got one, and five months, a year, a day, it doesn't really make a difference to me.

The 36-year-old became the world's No.1-ranked player in February 2017 and remained there for 64 consecutive weeks, the fifth longest run as the world's top golfer.

He returned to the No. 1 position in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and has been on perch for a total of over 100 weeks.
