Abbott on course to cut energy spending by 45%
Move is crucial to the company's broader work to protect the environment in Singapore.
GLOBAL healthcare company Abbott's Singapore plant is on target to achieve 45 per cent reduction in its annual energy spending by the end of 2017 compared to 2012 when it launched an intensive energy efficiency programme.
"The initiatives we implemented to improve energy efficiency have made a significant impact in helping us reduce the plant's cumulative energy costs by 33 per cent from 2012 to 2014, which is equivalent to saving the energy required for more than 7,000 households in Singapore for a year.
"This helps protect the environment in Singapore and strengthens our business at the same time," says Steven Huang, utility & facility manager at Abbott, who has been named as an Outstanding Energy Manager of the Year at the EENP Awards 2015.
