Abe: Japan to help in ensuring peace in Asia
He urges China to resume talks on a bilateral communication mechanism

TOKYO will offer its "utmost support" to South-east Asia in the region's efforts to protect their seas and airspace, said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last night.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the three-day Asia Security Summit, he also spoke broadly of his country's plan to take on an "even greater and proactive role" in ensuring peace in Asia.
