Alcohol ban: Impact on Little India businesses unavoidable
IT is unavoidable that businesses in Little India will see their earnings take a hit as a result of last weekend's temporary blanket ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol in the area.
"Companies will be affected, it cannot be helped," said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as he explained the government's rationale behind the 48-hour restriction, which ended early this morning.
The weekend passed quietly, with no incidents reported in Little India as at 10pm yesterday, police said. There were no breaches of the alcohol ban and no one was caught for drinking alcohol in public.
